The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - Racing - BY RAY THOMAS

Gary Portelli (trainer) Nicci’s Gold: “I think her distance is probably the mile. We’re toying with the idea, if she wins (today) of backing up into the Villiers or going to the Gosford mares’ race.’’

Sally Snow (TAB): “Sweet Deal is an honest mare racing well this preparation and has found another suitable race. She gets a lovely run from the draw and the form out of her last-start win looks strong. Just has to stave off her challengers late with the 60kg on her back.’’

Glenn Munsie (TAB): “Quite keen on Velocita at the $7 on offer. Speed is not high and I think Kerrin McEvoy can slot this mare just in behind leaders on the rails and be the one stalking them.’’

Grant Palmer (bookie): “I expect Velocita to settle back and finish off strong, similar to her previous run where she was beaten a small margin in a tough duel. At $7, a great each-way bet.’’ Terry Kennedy (Sky Sports Radio): “Sweet Deal has been super impressive this campaign, is coming off a good win at Rosehill Gardens and can do it again at good odds. Don’t discount the winning Goulburn form of With Purpose.’’

Verdict: Velocita

Kevin Moses (trainer) Niccolance: “I ride him most of his work. If he ever has a strong gallop, I get Jackson Morris to ride him. He rode him Tuesday morning and was very happy with him. My main aim, which is a big long shot, is trying to get him ready for a Magic Millions race.”

Sally Snow (TAB): “Niccolance is a lightly raced type resuming without a trial, but the significant jockey booking indicates he is ready to go. Look for a positive ride from barrier three and, with just 53.5kg, he looks hard to run down.’’

Glenn Munsie (TAB): “More than happy to steer well clear of those in the market with a stack of speed on. Tango Rain and Niccolance are both speed horses drawn soft to take the option of pressing on or taking the sit.”

Grant Palmer (bookie): “Tango Rain drops back in grade after a handy run behind Isaurian last start. Expect her to get a nice run and be right in the finish. The $13 on offer is huge overs.’’

Terry Kennedy (Sky Sports Radio): “Going wide with Jorda to upstage her Godolphin stablemate Coruscate. Jorda recorded great closing sectionals last start and, while she can be hard to catch, has plenty of ability.’’ Verdict: Niccolance
