Small lift in poll for PM

THE Coali­tion re­mains on course for a sig­nif­i­cant elec­tion de­feat de­spite a lift in Prime Min­is­ter Scott Mor­ri­son’s ap­proval rat­ings.

An ex­clu­sive Newspoll pub­lished in The Aus­tralian shows La­bor re­tain­ing a com­mand­ing lead over the Coali­tion with a 53/47 two-party pre­ferred vote.

The Coali­tion’s pri­mary vote re­mains at a his­toric low of 37 per cent.

Mr Mor­ri­son’s ap­proval rat­ing lifted three points to 43 per cent and he has main­tained his lead over Bill Shorten as the pre­ferred prime min­is­ter af­ter widen­ing the gap two points to 44/35 in the lat­est poll.
