Arsonist should come clean on laundry fires

The Daily Telegraph (Sydney) - - News -

TWO Sydney businesses destroyed by fire three years apart — resulting in multimilliondollar damage bills — have now been linked by police, who say the arson attacks were carried out by the same person.

Detectives investigating a fire that caused nearly $2 million damage at Comtex Laundry at Minto last year say it is similar to a blaze that decimated another cleaning business, Star Linen at Ingleburn, in 2015.

“Both fires are suspected to have been deliberately lit and targeted the same type of business, which were operating in the same area, and while there’s a few years between incidents, the similarities certainly raise our suspicions,” Detective Inspector Richard Puffett said yesterday. Police are appealing for witnesses to the latest fire, which was deliberately lit inside a factory on Airds Rd at Minto about 4.30pm on October 27 last year. The fire (pictured) caused $1.6 million damage.
