Horror crash has driver wary

The Free Press (Corowa) - - FRONT PAGE -

It was a normal weekday night at around 6.30pm when Ash Wheaton was returning home to Yarrawonga from Shepparton.

Almost 10 minutes from home he suddenly felt an almighty thud on the front of his vehicle.

Wondering what he had hit he pulled over immediately, stepped out of his vehicle and was greeted by a large kangaroo on top of his car.

“It just suddenly bounced out in front of me, out of nowhere,” he explained.

The incident happened approximately 10km west from Yarrawonga near the corner of Telford Road and Katamatite Road. “I have never seen roos on this stretch of road,” Ash said.

“I’m not a frequent driver of this road, about once a month maximum.”

Ash said his vehicle was not quite written-off but it has taken over three weeks to have it repaired.

And as a result of this incident he said he will be making every effort to minimise driving at dawn and dusk outside of town. Incidents like these are happening more and more on local roads

This kangaroo ended up on top of Ash Wheaton’s vehicle. The damaged car needed to be towed.
