Workshops to boost grant chances
The Indigo Shire Mayor, Cr Jenny O’Connor, said that council was pleased to once again offer community grants and tourism events grants for 2018-19.
“To help inform potential applicants of the type of activities which would be suitable for funding, and the process of applying for financial support, council officers will conduct workshops across the Shire,” Cr O’Connor said.
“I urge as many residents as possible to attend and learn how they can avail themselves of this excellent opportunity for their tourism and community activities.”
Cr O’Connor said the grants program supported the community’s hard-working handson contributors and helped them promote and improve their services in a wide range of endeavours across the shire.
“In previous years these grants have helped a wide range of organisations improve facilities, purchase equipment, carry out renovations and provide training and support,” Cr O’Connor said.
Cr O’Connor said a total of $47,500 has been proposed in the draft budget for community, arts and culture projects, with a further $2,500 for youth focused initiatives.
The draft budget has also recommended $26,000 for tourism projects.
Applications formally opened on Wednesday, June 6. In previous years, successful applicants have received funds ranging from $200 to $4,000.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, July 20. For more information, and to download an application form, please visit www.indigoshire. vic.gov.au/grants.
