All Federation Council area’s 13 primary and secondary schools are to receive a $100 sponsorship for an annual award determined by each school.

“While this is a great initiative, it is something council has sponsored only on an as-requested/ad hoc basis,” council’s General Manager Adrian Butler said.

“It is considered that this approach should be replaced by a more formal and consistent arrangement.”

Council will advise each school accordingly, and at the suggestion of Cr Bronwyn Thomas, will stipulate guidelines which would include community spirit and integrity.

“This is an excellent initiative by Federation Council,” she said.

At their monthly meeting on June 26, councillors unanimously agreed on committing council to a total annual amount of $1300.
