North East Skate Park Series
The North East Skate Park Series day in Corowa is upon us, with youth from Corowa and surrounds encouraged to come out and compete, enjoy and support each other for a fun day.
If you can ride, regardless of how well, you are encouraged to join in on the day and be a part of the annual event at the Corowa Skate Park.
Recently, Corowa’s youth have been busy over the school holidays preparing the Corowa Skate Park for the event to be held on Saturday, October 27 from 2pm-6pm.
The event was due to be held on October 20 but due to inclement weather was cancelled.
Under the guidance and direction of local 15-year-old artist Phoenix Hunter-Howie, a colourful revamp of the street art inside the skate park shelter sheds has been underway.
Many hours of painting have produced some striking and exciting artwork that is sure to inspire competitors as they take to the ramps in their respective events.
A lot of effort went into the painting which took four days, and a lot of fun was had.
Co-ordinated by the Indigo Shire Council, the North East Skate Park Series is an annual skate/BMX/scooter competition held in 10 local towns across the Victorian north-east and Corowa, and has been running for more than half a decade.
It is a free entry all age event, with entry categories from beginners to pro available.
Prizes and medals are on offer as well as DJ music and demos for added entertainment.
BBQ food and drink is also available for purchase. Registration for events opens at 1.30pm and waiver forms must be also signed before competing.
This is a drug, alcohol and smoke free event and is sponsored by a Federation Council community grant.
