New Year’s Eve fireworks
Having lost a major sponsor this year it is more important for local small businesses and residents to get behind the fireworks if they would like to see the event continue.
The firework display is free for all to attend and a great event for families, with a display at 9.30pm as well as at midnight.
Many visitors come to Corowa over the new-year period because they know we have fireworks and while they are here they spend money in many businesses in town, improving the turnover of businesses and in turn providing job security.
Fireworks Chairman, Rotarian Paul Miegel, is very grateful to both Riverlea, who have continued their sponsorship of the early display for families, and the RSL Club, who have also continued their generous donation towards the midnight Fireworks.
“We need more people to realise that this event will not just continue to happen – each year we need to raise enough money to ensure that it can go ahead,” Mr Miegel said.
“If you have attended in the past and enjoyed the display then please consider donating just $1 or $2 for each person in your family. That is all it would take to ensure the viability of the fireworks each year.”
The reason for using community funding is to allow the community to have a say in what they want from the display.
There are 30 donation tins located throughout Corowa so people can drop their loose change into them and assist the Rotary Club to ensure a fantastic fireworks display this New Year’s Eve.
Donations to the fireworks can be made by: • Direct deposit into the club’s fireworks account – BSB 082-559, Account Number 246378185.
• Cheque made payable to Rotary Club of Corowa Fireworks and mailed to Rotary Club of Corowa, PO Box 153 Corowa 2646. • At one of the collection tins located at businesses throughout the town.
The Rotary Club of Corowa is once again working hard to raise enough funds to ensure that the New Year’s Eve fireworks are able to continue this year.
The Rotary Club is looking for community support for this year’s fireworks display.
