Time to prepare for Fun Run
With only one month to go until the second running of the Corowa Rutherglen Junior Football Club Fun Run, it is time to get into training or get your relay team organised.
After the success of last year’s event, the club is looking forward to hosting athletes of all ages and abilities to compete again this year.
The event is a four-lap course for a total of 10 kilometres, you can enter as an individual or a team between 2-4 runners – how you make up your relay team and how far you run is up to you.
Last year the event attracted 20 individual runners and 30 relay teams.
Following last year’s Fun Run, event organiser John Backhouse said the club had the “perfect” day for it in 2017.
“The reaction from those who took part in the race was all positive and they are really looking forward to taking part again next year and bringing along some people with them,” he said last year.
“The fun run is a major fundraiser for the junior football club and it helped raise $800 which will go to the future development of the Corowa Rutherglen junior footballers.”
The Fun Run is now an annual fixture, with Mr Backhouse saying it’s great for people who are looking to keep fit and healthy during the summer months.
The race starts at 9am at John Foord Oval and the track includes the football and cricket grounds.
The race is professionally timed, so the serious competitor can be confident of the accuracy of timing.
Trophies are available to the winners of each category and certificates will go to place getters.
The relay allows for runners of all ages that may not be confident in running more than 2.5km a chance to take part and enjoy the day.
Unfortunately, due to the layout of the course, dogs and prams are not permitted.
If you would like to volunteer to help out on the day, please text John Backhouse on 0419 370 734.
Entries will be taken from 7.30am at John Foord Oval until 8.30am. For more information please go to the Corowa Rutherglen Junior Football Club Facebook page or visit the website.
The fun run in 2017 was a successful event enjoyed by all and 2018 is set to be no different.
