2019 Australia Day Award nominations open
Do you know someone who has given outstanding service to the community? Or have you been involved in a specific community project which deserves recognition? Nominate them for the Federation Council Australia Day Awards!
Nominations are now open for 2019 Australia Day Awards which recognise and celebrate people, community organisations, projects and events in the Federation Council.
Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke said the awards are a celebration of dedicated community members, which recognise both individuals and groups who make outstanding contributions.
“Australia Day provides the perfect opportunity for us to formally thank our people for the contribution they make,” Mayor Bourke said.
“We are looking forward to getting as many nominations as we can, but what we really want is for the community to nominate all our unsung heroes that really give to the community and the projects and events that have made our community a better place.”
Mayor Bourke said previous award winners have come from all walks of life and one thing they have in common is passion and dedication.
“If that sounds like someone you know, get a nomination form and nominate them today,” he said.
“Most people don’t ask for recognition for what they do, it takes others to make that recognition happen, and our Australia Day Awards are a perfect way to do that.”
Nomination categories this year include:
