Charges fol­low for truck driver

Ma­jor Col­li­sion In­ves­ti­ga­tion Unit de­tec­tives have charged a man af­ter the re­cent dou­ble fa­tal­ity in Brimin be­tween Bun­da­long and Ruther­glen on Fri­day, Novem­ber 2.

It is un­der­stood an east­bound truck on the Mur­ray Val­ley High­way col­lided with a west­bound car just af­ter 9.30pm.

Amanda Kilmis­ter, 37, and her 12-year-old son Har­ri­son from the car died at the scene.

The re­main­ing oc­cu­pants of the car, 44-yearold Paul Kilmis­ter along with their sons, eight­month-old Austin and two-year-old Mor­gan, were air­lifted to hos­pi­tal with crit­i­cal in­juries.

The 31-year-old truck driver from Mooroopna, Ryan Wayne Kenny, has been in­ter­viewed and charged at Wan­garatta Mag­is­trates Court on Mon­day with 15 of­fences, in­clud­ing two counts for cul­pa­ble driv­ing, two counts of dan­ger­ous driv­ing caus­ing death, two counts of neg­li­gently caus­ing se­ri­ous in­jury, two counts of dan­ger­ous driv­ing caus­ing se­ri­ous in­jury, two counts of reck­less con­duct en­dan­ger­ing life and se­ri­ous in­jury and charged with ex­ceed­ing the pre­scribed con­cen­tra­tion of drugs while driv­ing.

He has been re­manded in cus­tody to ap­pear at Wan­garatta Mag­is­trates’ Court on March 14, 2019.

The Kilmis­ter fam­ily, who loved wa­ter­ski­ing, moved to Bun­da­long about five years ago.
