Lo­cal crews set for row­ing re­gatta

Ruther­glen, Corowa and Wah­gun­yah Row­ing clubs are set for the an­nual row­ing re­gatta at Lake Mood­e­mere this week­end.

There is an­other record level of 1,100 en­tries for the Mur­ray Row­ing As­so­ci­a­tion’s an­nual re­gatta which starts on Saturday at 8am at the pic­turesque Lake Mood­e­mere.

Clubs from around Vic­to­ria and south­ern New South Wales will be in at­ten­dance with over 650 row­ers com­pet­ing at the event.

High­lights at the re­gatta will be on Sun­day when the Mur­ray Row­ing As­so­ci­a­tion hosts the Vic­to­rian Sprint Cham­pi­onships for open class boats.

The sprint cham­pi­onships are over 500 me­tres and the rac­ing over these short dis­tances will be fast and fu­ri­ous.

The lo­cal clubs will be well rep­re­sented, with Corowa Row­ing Club look­ing to de­fend the MRA tro­phy be­tween the three lo­cal clubs.

Co­rio Bay Row­ing Club from Gee­long are send­ing up a big con­tin­gent of over 50 row­ers to de­fend the Redgum Shield for the most suc­cess­ful club at the re­gatta.

Rac­ing starts at 8am on Saturday with rac­ing ev­ery three min­utes through to 6pm. Rac­ing starts at 7am on Sun­day.

En­try to the re­gatta is free and the venue is well catered for by the three lo­cal row­ing clubs.
