World Day of Prayer

World Day of Prayer is held on the first Friday in March each year – when co-ordinated services of Christian worship and prayer are held across the world in over 170 countries.

World Day of Prayer which had its beginnings in the late 1800s is about praying with, rather than for, our sisters of other races and nations.

The focus of prayer moves to a different country each year. This year it is on Slovenia, a central European country surrounded by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the north-east, Croatia to the south and with an Adriatic Sea coastline.

The message is ‘come – Everything is Read’ from Luke 14:15-24.

World Day of Prayer services have been held in Corowa annually since 1979 (40 years).

It is an ecumenical service that each denomination takes turns to host.

This year the service will be held at Corowa Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 1 at 10am, followed by morning tea.
