The town needs Ball Park

-

Last week’s letter from Leea Swasbrick is great for debate for and against Ball Park’s future.

I am most certainly against Ball Park no longer being a caravan park and turned into a park. The area is one big park all-round. To lose Ball Park would damage the town’s retail economy badly. The town needs Ball Park. Ball Park needs to be invested in ASAP by the private sector and EOIs called for with a lease that allows money to be invested in the prime tourist site. I would go further and have Ball Park Caravan Park sold to a tourist park operator if it was possible. It is quite correct that council should not run the park.

This was done in Renmark by Paringa Council and the privately owned park is a great example of a modern attractive tourist park that is busy all year. It is the Watts Family Park in Renmark. Federation Council and Corowa seem to have no idea about what Ball Park can do for town if it was a modern tourist park and year-round destination.

Yes the other parks should be invested in as well by the owners and that should be done regardless of Ball Park. Stuart Davie.
