Incident at school

-

A Corowa High School teacher sustained a minor laceration to the hand in an incident with a student last Wednesday, May 13.

A Department of Education spokesperson said students and staff are commended on their response to a brief lockdown safety pro

cedure that was called when a person entered school grounds that morning.

“The safety procedure was called to ensure the safety of students as staff dealt with the emerging issue,” the spokesperson told The Free Press.

“Students were safe at all times and normal lessons and routines resumed.

“Police were called and the school praised their prompt support. Police are following up on the incident.

“Lockdowns are one of a number of safety procedures regularly rehearsed by public schools and last Wednesday’s procedure was followed according to those rehearsals.”
