Main Street reseal works

-

Regional Roads Victoria has advised that sealing works on Main Street, Rutherglen will commence on Sunday 11 April until Tuesday 20 April, between the hours of 6pm and 5am.

The announcement of works was made at last week’s Indigo Shire Council meeting with Cr Roberta Horne “absolutely delighted” for Rutherglen to finally have Main Street properly resealed after ongoing problems with the road “melting” in summer.

The works will include pavement improvement on Main Street which has previously shown incidents of pavement bleeding.

In addition, the car parking bays will also be resealed, and line marking will be refreshed.

An award winning and innovative road surfacing product, Reconophalt, will be used on the pavement.

It contains high recycled content derived from waste streams, such as soft plastics, glass and toner which would otherwise be bound or landfill or stockpiled.

This product has been shown to have improved pavement durability and resistance to cracking and superior performance under heavy vehicle traffic when compared to similar products.

There will be a full road closure of Main Street from Sunday, April 11 to Thursday, April 15, with detours via Reid and Murray Streets.

There will be one lane closure of Drummond St intersection on Friday, April 16.

There will be one lane closure at the Main Street roundabout from Saturday, April 17 to Monday, April 19.

Short partial closures will occur on Tuesday, April 20 for line marking to occur.

There will be full access during daytime hours when works are not occurring and pedestrian access to Main street will be maintained at all times.

All works are weather dependent, and timing and closures may vary. Motorists should plan ahead and allow up to 5 extra minutes for their journey.

Indigo Shire has been working closely with RRV to undertake the works and welcomes the announcement of a commencement date.
