Track star awarded silver medal

Superstar athlete Mitchell O’Neill is continuing is good form competing recently at the Australian Athletics Championsh­ips in Sydney.

The 22-year-old track champion moved from Corowa to Wollongong in 2018 to pursue his sporting career and hasn’t looked back continuing to beat his own personal bests year after year.

Currently, Mitch trains at Kerryn McCann Athletics centre in Wollongong alongside his coach Donna Hiscox. Last month, Mitchell was selected to represent NSW in the Open Men’s 4x100m relay at the Australian Championsh­ips after his recent success at the NSW State championsh­ips. The team ran extremely well with Mitchell anchoring the race with a time of 41.57 seconds to secure the silver medal.

Following the Australian Championsh­ips, Mitchell cleaned up at the Athletics Wollongong Awards night with five new season records, Age Champion, the President’s Award trophy, Points Score Champion and 200m Zoom Champion.
