Extra saleyards land sought
Federation Council is set to negotiate acquisition of land required for the ongoing operational needs of the Corowa Saleyards, in particular management of treated effluent generated from saleyard operations.
The subject was on council’s agenda at yesterday’s monthly but at the time of The Free Press going to print, council was to confidentially discuss the opportunity to purchase two lots with a total land area of 10ha.
Treated effluent from the saleyards is provided to a neighbouring property owner to enable irrigation for the growing of crops.
“The property owner has approached council with an intention to sell to council,” council’s director development and environmental services Susan Appleyard stated in her report.
“The land being offered to council for sale is located at 91 and 107 Almond Lane.”
A story will appear in next week’s edition of The Free Press.
