Expo has info for age­ing res­i­dents

THE Der­went Val­ley Coun­cil and Co­rum­bene Care will hold an in­for­ma­tion expo for older peo­ple at New Nor­folk this month.

Funded through the State Govern­ment’s Live­able Com­mu­ni­ties pro­gram, Keep­ing En­gaged in the Der­went Val­ley will show­case a va­ri­ety of ser­vices and ac­tiv­i­ties avail­able to lo­cal res­i­dents.

The expo will fea­ture in­for­ma­tion, demon­stra­tions and health checks.

It will also in­clude in­for­ma­tion on how older peo­ple can re­main ac­tive in the com­mu­nity through recre­ation and vol­un­teer­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.

Trans­port to the expo can be ar­ranged by con­tact­ing Co­rum­bene Care or Com­mu­nity Trans­port Ser­vices Tas­ma­nia.

Expo at­ten­dees will be asked to in­di­cate what ser­vices or ac­tiv­i­ties they would like more in­for­ma­tion about.

A fur­ther three fo­rums will be or­gan­ised to pro­vide more de­tailed in­for­ma­tion on the top­ics par­tic­i­pants have in­di­cated they are most in­ter­ested in.

The expo will be held at the New Nor­folk RSL on June 28 from 11am-2pm.

At­ten­dance is free, and light re­fresh­ments will be pro­vided.
