Souper day for Lachlan Hall
THE Lachlan Community Hall owes a lot to its annual soup and sandwich fundraiser, and this year’s edition is just around the corner.
Soup and Sandwich Day, which is the major fundraiser for the upkeep of the hall for the year, will be held next week.
It has been running in its current form since the 1990s, and organiser Jenny Smith said money raised at previous events has been put to good use.
“We’ve had the ceiling redone, we’ve had the floor redone, we’ve had it all repainted out, our next big thing is the revarnish the wood panels,” Mrs Smith said.
Soup and Sandwich Day usually attracts between 100 and 120 people each year, and there have already been a few bookings for next week’s event.
“There’s a lot of organisations in New Norfolk and the Lachlan area that have their own fundraising things, and we all support one another,” Mrs Smith said.
“We get a lot of people from other organisations that come out to us, and we’ve even got people from Hobart that come up [in] big groups every year.”
As it falls in the middle of winter, the soup is always a popular option, and there are five varieties on offer this year, as well as sandwiches, of course, and desserts.
The Soup and Sandwich Day will be held next Thursday, June 21. Tickets are $12 per person. To book, call Jenny Smith on 6261 1552.
