Car in dam prompts rescue
POLICE mounted a rescue operation, calling in divers, after a car crashed into a dam in the Derwent Valley last week.
Witnesses reported a vehicle had run off Boyer Rd in Dromedary and into a dam on Friday night but were unable to tell police if the driver had been in it.
The car was fully submerged and, with poor visibility, divers were unable to tell if there was anyone in it.
When police pulled the vehicle from the dam, they found it was empty. A man was then located near the scene suffering from hypothermia.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and was assisting police with their inquiries. Boyer Rd was closed for several hours during the operation.
