Power pole fire sparks blackout
TECHNICIANS worked for more than three hours to restore power to parts of the Derwent Valley on Monday night after a pole fire caused outages to over 1600 residents.
In what has been one of the coldest weeks of the year, Tas-Networks said residents in Black Hills, Lawitta, Magra and New Norfolk were affected by the outage.
TasNetworks reported on its Facebook page that power to 1632 customers was cut around 7pm.
By 8.30pm it was reported the outage was reduced to 79 customers affected.
Power was returned to all residents by 11.30pm.
