GOT THE LOOK

The Gazette (Derwent Valley) - - FRONT PAGE - DANA ANDERSON Dana Anderson is a UTAS journalism student.

A SCHOOL uniform is often a way for students to show the pride and love they have for their school.

Westerway Primary School has overhauled its old uniform in favour for a more updated design which the students wear with pride and a smile.

Leigh Nichols, a Grade 5/6 and physical education teacher at Westerway Primary School who helped spearhead the change, said the students wore their new modern uniform with pride.

“The kids hold their heads higher,” Mr Nichols said.

“We were trying to give them an alternative and updated choice, and everyone is very respectful in wearing it.”

Westerway Primary School is a small school with just 70 students and Mr Nichols said the new uniform would help highlight the school’s identity.

“We now have the look that we are a modern school,” Mr Nichols said.
