Man’s mo­tor­bike con­fis­cated

A MO­TOR­CY­CLE rider has had his bike con­fis­cated and will ap­pear in court af­ter he was al­legedly de­tected speed­ing more than 60km/h over the limit be­fore evad­ing po­lice.

The man was al­legedly de­tected rid­ing at 163km/h in a 100km/h zone on High­land Lakes Rd at Both­well about 3.10pm on Sun­day.

Po­lice said the rider and his bike were later lo­cated at Good­wood.

The man is as­sist­ing po­lice with their in­quiries and will ap­pear in court at a later date in re­la­tion to a num­ber of traf­fic of­fences. His bike was con­fis­cated for 90 days.

Po­lice re­minded mo­torists “there are sub­stan­tial penal­ties in­volved with this type of driv­ing be­hav­iour”.

“[We] take this op­por­tu­nity com­ing into the busy Christ­mas sea­son to re­mind mo­torists that this be­hav­iour could re­sult in tragic cir­cum­stances, not only for the rider but for many other road users,” a po­lice spokesper­son said.
