Man’s motorbike confiscated
A MOTORCYCLE rider has had his bike confiscated and will appear in court after he was allegedly detected speeding more than 60km/h over the limit before evading police.
The man was allegedly detected riding at 163km/h in a 100km/h zone on Highland Lakes Rd at Bothwell about 3.10pm on Sunday.
Police said the rider and his bike were later located at Goodwood.
The man is assisting police with their inquiries and will appear in court at a later date in relation to a number of traffic offences. His bike was confiscated for 90 days.
Police reminded motorists “there are substantial penalties involved with this type of driving behaviour”.
“[We] take this opportunity coming into the busy Christmas season to remind motorists that this behaviour could result in tragic circumstances, not only for the rider but for many other road users,” a police spokesperson said.
