Glen Derwent celebrates
HISTORIC New Norfolk convict-built mansion Glen Derwent will have its 200th birthday marked in style this weekend with a festival of Regency era celebrations.
The house and garden party will take patrons back in time for a day of song, dance, food and activities at the estate.
“It promises to be an exciting and delightful day for the whole family in the lovely Derwent Valley,” event organiser David Wanless said.
“We have an exciting program of activities including croquet, historic tours, horses and cart, and period games.”
Co-organiser Cathleen Hutchinson said patrons were encouraged to don attire from the Regency era to get in the spirit of the event.
Glen Derwent’s 200th birthday celebrations run from 10.30am-4pm on Sunday . Tickets are available through www.trybooking.com/YIMI
