Did we hear that a few hos­pi­tal­ity and cor­po­rate com­pa­nies have splashed out big bucks to hi­jack their com­peti­tors’ chances of scoop­ing up new busi­ness on cer­tain search en­gines? Fake re­views by com­peti­tors on so­cial me­dia and travel sites are rife, how­ever, it seems the bat­tle has stepped up a notch. Some crafty busi­nesses have placed ad­ver­tis­ing via Ad­Words searches on their com­peti­tors’ busi­ness names. Mean­ing when some­one searches for in­for­ma­tion on a spe­cific busi­ness on the web, their ri­val is right at the top of the search en­gines. Ho­tels, res­tau­rants and some tourist at­trac­tions have jumped on board with the tac­tic. #tar­geted
