Gold Coast Little Theatre will host Drinks with the Director for Top Hat Productions’ Piccadilly Olde Time Music Hall on April 19 from 6pm. These popular evenings introduce the audience to the style and content of the forthcoming show, and are always a great success. Directors take the chance to talk about the show’s origins, to introduce cast members and normally perform a few songs or a short scene from the show. It’s also a great way for members and theatre lovers to get together for a beer and a biscuit and meet cast members. This one looks like being a blockbuster with ticket sales going very strongly for the eight-show-only season from April 27 to May 6. Drinks with the Director entry is $5 per person with proceeds supporting the theatre. The Star Gold Coast will present Australian icon Barry Humphries on May 12 and 13, following a two-show season on May 10 at QPAC. For more than 60 years, this celebrated Australian performer has held a mirror to Australia and Australians, revealing their virtues, their foibles, their triumphs and their failings through a gallery of adored characters, including Dame Edna Everage, Sir Les Patterson and Sandy Stone. In this new show, he will peel off the mask to take audiences on a revealing, funny and moving trip through his colourful life and theatrical career. Don’t miss your chance to see one of Australia’s greatest ever performers as he introduces the man behind the characters we all know and love. Tickets are on sale now through The Star. Another show has been announced for Disney On Ice Celebrates 100 Years of Magic, which is set to bring the much-loved stars to Brisbane from June 29 to July 2. The new show is scheduled for July 1 at 5.30pm. Currently in rehearsal on the Gold Coast is Spotlight’s Baskerville and Heathers and Top Hat Productions’ The Piccadilly Olde Time Music Hall. See you in a crowded foyer.

Top Hat’s Piccadilly Olde Time Music Hall opens April 27.
