Fans of sophisticated cabaret are certain to be entertained at Arundel on Sunday as two talented redheads join forces to put on a show
For those who appreciate cabaret, Yours Truly and Kirri Adams will perform Two Redheads in Search of a Match at Seachange, Arundel on Sunday. I believe it’s open to the public, so it should be a fabulous night – jet-lagged me and all! Spotlight will hold auditions for The Wonderettes on Sunday at 4pm and Rock of Ages on June 24. Gold Coast Little Theatre will hold auditions for Hello, Dolly! on August 5 from 10am and on the same day Javeenbah will hold auditions for A Kick in the Baubles. See each theatre’s website for more information. The Brisbane Conservatorium students are putting on Little Women from July 13 to 19 at the Powerhouse in Brisbane. These shows are always popular and very good, so be sure to book tickets online. Javeenbah will stage Pack of Lies, written by Hugh Whitemore and directed by Nathan Schulz, from July 5 to 15. The Jacksons are a nice middle-aged English couple. Their best friends are their Canadian neighbours, the Krogers. All is blissful in the Jacksons’ world until a detective from Scotland Yard asks to use their house as an observation station to try and foil a Soviet spy ring. Scotland Yard’s demands on them increase. They are really put to the test when the detective reveals that the spies are the Krogers and he asks them to help set a trap. Local songstress Lynn Rogers has announced the formation of The Supper Club, a fabulous organisation offering discounted entry, drinks and a delicious supper menu. The launch will be on June 26. The beautiful and talented Lynn will be gracing the stage with her Sophisticated Swing show from 7 – 8pm, and there will be special guest performances. The second half of each evening will be an open microphone and jam session for musicians. Anticipate a great evening of quality entertainment with an element of surprise. Cabaret lovers will remember the glittering evenings Lynn used to run at the Southport Yacht Club and In rehearsal is GCLT’s Kiss Me Kate (opens June 30), Murwillumbah Theatre’s The Vicar of Dibley, Ballina Players’ Essgee Pirates of Penzance and Tweed Theatre Company’s new Australian musical Fred.
