Cole Porter’s last work Kiss Me Kate proved a hit from the start and now Gold Coast theatre fans can enjoy GCLT’s version of the classic musical
Opening this week is Kiss Me Kate, directed by Andrew CockroftPenman. This big, brash Cole Porter musical is sure to be a blockbuster for GCLT, which hosted a terrific Drinks with the Director last week. This musical was Cole Porter’s last work and it was a hit from the start. It opens Saturday. Tickets are on sale now online or at the theatre. The Gold Coast Jazz and Blues Club is back at the Paradise Room with its first show of the year tomorrow night. It’s Jan Preston’s Wonderful Winnie, a musical tribute to the fabulous talents of Winifred Atwell and her honky-tonk piano. Tickets are available through HOTA or call 5588 4444. Blindside and Drums of War will be leading the VIP singers through some cool songs this year. The VIP Males will be doing Sing by Pentatonix and If You’ve Only Got a Moustache from A Million Ways to Die in the West. The VIP Females will do Sit Still, Look Pretty from Pitch Perfect 3 and Bottom of the River from Delta Rae. The mixed song is 24K Magic by Bruno Mars as arranged by Drums of War. Terry and Andy are being taken from the pages of the popular Andy Griffith and Terry Denton book and put on to the stage for an amazing production. Former local performer Tim Carroll is one of the stars. Please note all shows are on at the QUT Gardens Theatre, which can be found at XBlock, Gardens Point Precinct Queensland University of Technology, 2 George Street, Brisbane starting Saturday at 1pm and 3pm. Coming to the Playhouse QPAC from July 11-15 is Senior Moments, a comedy revue about “old” people. With The Midday Show’s Geoff Harvey on piano and starring TV’s John Wood, Benita Collings and Max Gillies, it’s bound to be a hoot.
