Two theatre companies are drawing large audiences for their spectacular productions. Javeenbah Theatre’s A Kick in the Baubles has been attracting big crowds to its Christmas-themed show, and Ballina Players’ The Boy From Oz is also pulling in excellent numbers. Birkdale’s Mates Theatre Genesis is offering the rare opportunity to learn the skills of theatrical light and sound operation in a one-day workshop run by university lecturer James Auld. James has been involved in sound reproduction and operation since the 1950s, and lighting design and management for amateur groups and schools since 1968. This is a practical workshop which assumes limited-to-no previous knowledge of attendees. You will gain a working understanding of the equipment and techniques used in lighting and sound, including background theory, design, hardware familiarisation, electrical knowledge and an introduction to the Show Cue System computer package.
