Mum complains of unfair treatment as tattoo-addicted son faces court

THE mother of a heavily tattooed Southport man allegedly involved in a brawl with bikies says her son is unfairly judged because of his ‘‘facial artwork’’.

Bronson Ellery, 20, was granted bail in Southport Magistrate’s Court yesterday after he was charged with public nuisance following a brawl with members of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang at Harbour Town shopping centre in Biggera Waters on Sunday.

It was alleged three men were involved in a brawl near the David Jones outlet at 1.20pm and at least one of them was wearing a Finks T-shirt.

The matter was adjourned to October 30 for case conferencing and Ellery, whose face, arms and legs are covered with tattoos, gave media the finger as he left the watch-house.

His mum Suzi was waiting outside the watch house for her son and said he was not linked to outlaw motorcycle gangs.

She said her son had

been involved in an incident earlier in the weekend at Jupiters Casino, with two men believed to be the same men from the brawl.

‘‘My son doesn’t drink, smoke or do drugs but he’s judged by the artwork on his face,’’ she said.

According to his mother, Ellery’s addiction to tattoos began when he was 15.

The Harbour Town incident is believed to have been captured on CCTV footage but Ellery has not lodged a complaint against the other men involved and they have not yet been caught.
