Explore uni at open days

-

THIS month, universities on the Gold Coast and across the country are opening their doors to prospective students.

Open days allow school leavers, mature-age students or those wanting a fresh career an insight into campus life.

As well as providing crucial course information, universities use these days to showcase what they can offer students.

They can be overwhelming for first-timers, but making an itinerary and a list of questions is a great start.

It’s wise to print open day programs and maps.

Don’t be afraid to speak up or ask silly questions because deciding what degree or university to attend is a life-changing decision and not one to be made lightly.

For some insider knowledge, ask a student already at the uni.

Make sure you check out the campus facilities and explore buildings you could be studying in. Visit labs, computer facilities and the library.

Take note of your surroundings and consider if it is an environment you want to be spending the next few years in.

This Sunday is Griffith Univer- sity’s open day, 9am to 2pm, and parking on the Gold Coast campus is free.

The Parklands Drive campus will have a continuous free shuttle bus from the main multi-level carpark to the event.

There will be tours, targeted information stands, interactive displays, entertainment, kids and sports zones, and food stalls.

Bond University’s open day is on August 19, 10am to 3pm, at its Robina campus in University Drive.

As well as essential course and campus information, there will be free food and coffee all day.

There’ll also be roaming performers, live music on the main stage, student groups performing and children’s entertainment.

Bond and Griffith have open day information, maps and itineraries on their websites.
