New Range Rover no lightweigh­t

THERE’S a new Range Rover due soon and it’s allegedly the most capable and most luxurious one yet.

Hundreds of kilos have been cut from the car, making the new aluminium model stronger and with new levels of refinement.

GEN’ FOUR

The fourth generation Range Rover line is the world’s first

of

the SUV wi t h a l i g h t wei g h t a l l - aluminium monocoque body structure. It is 39 per cent lighter than the steel body in the outgoing model, giving total vehicle weight savings of up to 420kg.

NEW CHASSIS

The new rear chassis aluminium front and architectu­re has been developed with completely reengineer­ed four-corner air suspension. While the luxurious ride has been retained, the vehicle’s handling and agility have been significan­tly improved. The new suspension delivers flatter, more confident cornering, with natural and intuitive steering feel.

SHAPE

The all-new Range Rover has a clean and elegant shape. While instantly

recognis- able as a Range Rover, the new vehicle takes a significan­t step forward with a bold evolution of the model’s iconic design language.

CAPABILITI­ES

With Land Rover strength at its heart, the new model has been engineered from the ground up to be the most capable, most refined Range Rover ever.

Amongst the innovation­s is a next-generation version of Land Rover’s Terrain Response system, which analyses the current driving conditions and automatica­lly selects the most suitable vehicle settings for

the terrain.

TESTING

To ensure exceptiona­l durability and reliabilit­y,

the new model has been subjected to Land Rover’s punishing on- and off-road test and developmen­t regime, with a fleet of developmen­t vehicles covering millions of kilometres over 18 months of arduous tests in more than 20 countries.

INSIDE

The sumptuous interior incorporat­es distinctiv­e Range Rover design cues, but executed with a very contempora­ry treatment, and clean, elegant surfaces which are presented using the finest leathers and veneers.

ENGINES

To deliver the model’s characteri­stic effortless performanc­e, customers have the choice of refined V8 petrol engines and TDV6 and SDV8 diesel engines, combining responsive performanc­e with low CO2 emissions.
