Bad Day for Oz golf
JASON Day and Aaron Baddeley confirmed they won’t be returning for the Australian summer of golf after being bundled out of the US PGA Tour playoffs at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
Needing roughly a top-25 finish to be among the 70 players who advance to the third playoff event in Indianapolis, they fell short yesterday, with Baddeley finishing in a tie for 42nd and Day tied 51st.
Both men plan to remain in the US later this year, mainly for family reasons, meaning they will miss the Australian Masters, Australian Open and Australian PGA as well as the new Perth International.
Baddeley and wife Richelle are expecting their third child in early December. THE Nissan project which will bring 21st century technology to V8 Supercars began in such secrecy that not even the Japanese parent company knew about it.
Todd and Rick Kelly, who will race the new Altima next season, told staff at their $25 million Melbourne development plant they were working on a new engine for a boat.
They secretly imported a standard Altima engine from the US for preliminary testing then began negotiating with Nissan to launch a full-scale attack on the V8 series.
And the result is a spectacular 32-valve powerplant which will attract intense scrutiny from Supercar officials to make certain it is within the rules.
