More to join terror fight
QUEENSLAND will get 50 extra police officers as part of a plan to boost resources and stamp out the “ever-growing” threat of local terror attacks.
The announcement was made at the Queensland Police Service Academy at Oxley yesterday.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said the extra 30 counter-terrorism officers and 20 frontline police were a “solid investment” in the state’s safety.
Police Commissioner Ian Stewart said the additional resources would help authorities try to eradicate the “menace” of terrorism by relying on preventative tactics and intelligence techniques.
