First look at $2m M1 gateway signs
A New York company is about to put the Gold Coast in lights, having won the $2 million contract to build 11m-high welcome signs at each end of the city. The signs will use repurposed highway lights and poles to spell out Gold Coast in the north and GC in the south. It is hoped the signs will become a city icon comparable to Hollywood’s famous one.

Bali escapee Shaun Davidson is believed to have tunnelled out of Kerobokan to avoid certain deportation back to Australian prison, but the Australian risks a “Death Island” cell if caught. Davidson was still missing as of yesterday. He’s thought to have escaped with three other men down a narrow, 15m-long tunnel from Bali’s Kerobokan jail on Monday, just two months and 15 days short of his release.
