Man plummets four storeys onto concrete

A man has suffered multiple rib and leg fractures after falling from a Varsity Lakes worksite yesterday. His injuries were so severe paramedics placed him in an induced coma when they arrived soon after the 7am emergency call at Lakefront Crescent and Little Blue Lane. Workplace health and safety are investigat­ing.

Woman dead after crash at The Panorama

A woman was killed and a man critically injured after a singlevehi­cle crash in Tallai on Sunday night. Fire fighters had to use hydraulic equipment to get the woman, 57, and man out of the badly damaged car. The Panorama was closed to traffic just before 8pm while forensic police investigat­ed the fatal crash.

Glow Festival tipped to grow next year

Council will consider extending the Glow Festival to two nights next year after an estimated 20,000 Gold Coasters packed Bundall for this year’s event. The fourth annual light festival held on Saturday night was so popular it put pressure on parking and led to long waits for the free water taxi service and at food stalls. A Gold Coast City Council spokesman told the Bulletin it would consider extending the festival to become a “two-night celebratio­n” in an effort to “improve patron experience” in 2018.

Vatican bans glutenfree sacred bread

The Vatican has outlawed the use of gluten-free bread during the Holy Communion ritual. The new guidelines were made that includes banning gluten-free versions of the sacred bread because the bread can now be bought over the internet. Fifty loaves of the circular breads can be bought online for less than $10 a box while a 500 pack of minibreads can be picked up for as little as $6 per bag.
