Why TV company is being sued for $325k

A Gold Coast unit assistant is suing a television company for more than $325,000 after allegedly rolling his ankle while working on the set of a comedy series. In a statement of claim lodged in the Southport District Court last month, Timothy John O’Bank alleges he injured his right ankle in September 2014 while loading a truck after wet weather on the set of ABC-TV series Hiding at Palm Beach.

Shark Tank fail leaves sour note

Appearing on Tuesday night’s Shark Tank on Channel 10, Alex Houseman initially impressed the judges with his dairy-free ice cream brand Over The Moo – but then in a controvers­ial move, the 28-year-old entreprene­ur walked away. “I actually received three offers, one from Janine, one from Steve and one from Glen,” he said. “Things took a bit of a sour turn when they learned that I share the IP [intellectu­al property] for the recipes with the manufactur­er.”

Security company boss in legal battle

A Gold Coast security company owner, Adam Marcinkows­ki, has been accused of underpayin­g workers by $16,000 and allegedly sacking a worker with pneumonia and is facing charges in the Federal Circuit Court. Marcinkows­ki’s VIP Security Services provided security at Gold Coast City Council libraries and car parks until April. He allegedly threatened to send staff “straight to the dole queue” if they spoke to investigat­ors.

Property boom hot spots on Gold Coast

Property is booming in the Gold Coast northern corridor with at least two hot spots recording sales worth tens of millions this year. However, the good news comes with a warning of more traffic dramas on already congested roads.
