Dangerfield wins God comparison
JOEL Selwood has compared Patrick Dangerfield’s remarkable feats to the brilliance of Gary Ablett senior as the Cats sweat on his mysterious ankle injury.
That high praise from the Cats skipper came as Geelong’s players labelled his play as a deep forward as a “weapon” they would continue in September.
It is understood the injury that hampered Dangerfield against Hawthorn is a knock to the top of his ankle rather than a mid-foot sprain.
Dangerfield was resting at home yesterday before scans today, but was expected to be cleared of structural damage.
Selwood is confident Dangerfield will take on Adelaide on Friday night, with the star admitting he would be sore for several days.
Selwood lauded his influence as a deep forward yesterday after kicked 5.6 in three quarters as a forward target.
“I did marvel at his work. He was super when he had to go and play that role. Without going too far, I grew up being a Geelong fan and it was Gary Ablett sr-like,” he told Triple M.
“When it (the ball) went in there it stayed in there.”
