I AM aghast at the timing of the leak of an internal council memo on the Commonwealth Games which brought our city council, the mayor and councillors into disrepute.
From Bulletin reports it appears to have been a low blow from inside the Evandale HQ designed for maximum reputation damage. I sincerely hope the rat in the ranks is caught and publicly identified.
Battling a serious family health matter, the mayor certainly didn’t need it last week.

JUST to inform you, Nina Hardie (Your Views, 14/7) I was not feeding the kangaroos bread or anything else for that matter.
I do not feed them and at all times try to discourage them from my back doorstep.
I sometimes may shout at them or bang a pot lid to try to scatter them away.
I am a carer for a very ill, invalided man and I cannot leave him out in the sun because of the danger from these kangaroos.
I appreciate your position, Nina, but I can assure you I do not and would not feed any wildlife.

IS THE picture of a forlorn Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk ( GCB, 15/7) intended to portray a premier who is truly concerned about crime in Southeast Queensland?
Well, sadly for Queenslanders, her government is struggling with crime, such as on the Gold Coast, rising dramatically.
But what would you expect with “leaders” such as Palaszczuk, Trad and D’Ath lacking toughness?
The Premier thinks the provision of just 24 new police officers on the Gold Coast since Labor won control is deserving of a medal.
Can she and her colleagues be more disillusioned?
Like him or not, at least Can-Do Campbell could do.
Can’t-do Palaszczuk and her government are in big trouble.

I WAS fortunate enough to grow up in an environment where parents gave us the grounding for what was expected in a civil society.
Yes, it wasn’t perfect but it sure was way ahead of what we are being fed today.
We now live in an environment where it’s a case of “don’t get in their way as they rape and pillage”.
Many of those we elect are driven by greed.
Which makes me thankful that I will not see the worst before it hits rock bottom.

FULL marks to Mayor Tom Tate, for putting a hold on the wholesale distribution of Commonwealth Games tickets paid for by the Gold Coast City Council until he determines just how they will be used.
Beats me how a council employee, albeit the CEO, handed out tickets to the councillors.
As a Gold Coast ratepayer I object to the largesse displayed in this caper where it’s reported that 1800 tickets were handed out to backslapping councillors, when it hasn’t even been publicly clarified yet who authorised the purchase in the first place.
