HOW TO LOOK ABSOLUTELY SPLENDID AT FESTIVAL

- EMILY SELLECK emily.selleck@news.com.au

BYRON Bay’s Splendour in the Grass is just as much about the fashion as it is about the music.

Tens of thousands of festival-goers, girls and guys, have spent days painstakingly choosing their wardrobe for the three-day party.

It’s forecast to be freezing and if it rains the North Byron Parklands turn into a mud pit, but despite the elements, when it comes to festival fashion anything goes.

Felt hats, long fringes, lace, faux fur, printed Tshirts, denim and gumboots are topping the list for the must-have items this season.

The once-loved flower crown is out and streetwear will be favourite for the guys.

Robina Town Centre General Manager, Anita Brown, said Splendour was an opportunity to embrace new trends and showcase a “unique sartorial festival style”.

“Music festival street style will be out in full force, with distressed denim, printed tees paired under slip dresses, and flowy maxi dresses featuring bell sleeves, paisley prints and high splits emerging as front runners,” she said.

“With cooler weather predicted faux fur and oversized denim jackets are a great option when you want to keep the style meter on high, but also stay warm.

“When it comes to accessorising, we’re seeing felt fedoras, fiddler caps, embellished belts and layered chokers coming out on top, while military-style boots and cross-body satchel bags are always a favourite.”

Channey Fell has quite a wardrobe planned for the weekend, but said she liked rocking festival-style every day.

“I incorporate a number of festival-inspired pieces into my everyday wardrobe, as I’m a huge fan of bohemian styles that are feminine yet relaxed,” she said.
