Coast vet linked to torture probe

- VANDA CARSON vanda.carson@news.com.au

A GOLD Coast veterinary worker, who also runs a stripper agency and sells skimpy lingerie, has been dragged into the investigation of the horrific torture of a Brisbane woman, after text messages allegedly sent from her phone were revealed in court.

Tiahn Cranney’s mobile number was allegedly used to exchange messages with Brisbane man Jeromy Harris, who has been charged with torturing and holding Tanya Nicole Roberts captive in his Bulimba home.

A message allegedly sent from Cranney’s phone to Harris on July 1 shows Cranney expressing concern about serious wounds, based on a description given to her by Harris via text.

“Shit. Its badly infected. How long is the wound?” Cranney allegedly asks, according to documents filed in the Supreme Court by Harris’s defence team last week.

Harris, a former professional soccer player, had previously told her that “it has a bad odour when the brown stuff comes out”, according to court documents.

Harris also allegedly asked his flatmate Nicholas Crilley via text to send him a photo “of the wound” on July 2, 7.25am.

Harris also allegedly told Crilley via text that: “Bro she needs to clinically diagnose it, she needs to see it but she said if she diagnoses it as life threatening she will pull the plug and take her to a hospital. Are you ok with that? Please she is nit (SIC) going to say anything”.

Crilley also told Harris via text: “If she want to sell the antibiotics that be mad”, which could refer to Cranney.

Police allege Ms Roberts was tortured by burning her skin with methylated spirits by her former boyfriend Nicholas Crilley during a five-day stay in room 103 of the Tower Mill Metro hotel on Wickham Terrace in Spring Hill until June 29.

Police allege that Ms Roberts spent the next three days at Harris’s Bulimba townhouse that he shared with Crilley and Roberts, and did not receive medical attention, aside from Harris buying supplies at Chemist Warehouse in Woolloongabba.

On July 2 – the day that Crilley called triple-0 and ambulance and police arrived – Harris allegedly told Crilley via text that “if anyone finds out she was there she is f---ed”.

When contacted by media on Tuesday, Cranney confirmed that the phone number was hers and said that she did not know anyone who would have been using her phone.

She denied knowing Harris or Roberts, and said that she needed to call the police.

Detective Senior Constable Tom Madsen from Dutton Park police station, who is investigating the alleged torture of Roberts, said that Cranney had contacted him directly and she was upset by the media inquiries.

“She’s at the point of assisting us,” he said.

Vets in Upper Coomera confirmed that Cranney worked there and was due to start a shift at 3pm on Tuesday.

Cranney also runs a stripper agency called Flawless FX, which supplies strippers and dwarfs for jellywrestling and bucks parties.

She has removed all social media posts after being contacted by media.

Crilley and Harris are due in court on August 7.
