Musical great Dr G. Yunupingu, 46, has died after a long battle with illness. The multiple ARIAAward-winner, whose full name we have withheld for cultural reasons, died in Royal Darwin Hospital on Tuesday. The mediashy indigenous performer was renowned for his transcende­nt singing voice and use of native language in his music.

Two $1m jackpot tickets sold on Coast

An Upper Coomera couple hope to buy their first home and take their family on a US trip after winning a $1 million Keno jackpot. Concreter Mark, 39, and wife Jontel, 37, a community carer, bought the ticket on Saturday at the Wattle Hotel. It was the second million-dollar Keno ticket sold on the Gold Coast within four days. The other ticket was sold at Club Southport and had not been claimed yesterday.

Uber driver caught in oral sex row

Uber has reportedly suspended a driver after a customer claimed the man was engaged in sex acts with a woman during the trip. Aner Manuel, of Boston, took to the company’s Facebook page to complain about a trip where his driver appeared to receive oral sex from a woman. According to Manuel, he got in the car and noticed another person in the front seat. “The female in the front (who was clearly on drugs) attempted to open the door and could not even sit straight as the vehicle was in motion,” he wrote.

Social Brew opens doors at Paradise Point

Social Brew, one of Burleigh’s best-known cafes, has now opened its doors at Paradise Point. Mike Dowling, one of three owners of the Burleigh site, has gone out on his own to open Social Brew Paradise Point. “I wasn’t worried about the locals embracing the concept at all because I’m a local,” he says.
