FREEDOM: There was flower power in the air when the residents of Banora Point Freedom Aged Care got groovy at their ‘60s theme night.

The Men’s Shed created a cardboard cut-out of a Kombi van for residents to pose for happy snaps in their ‘60s fancy dress. Residents also had their own “casino” for the night provided by The Sting Gaming, with residents playing blackjack and roulette to win prizes.

Old vinyls were played and tie dye worn.

Committee chair Shirley Redwood said they hade a different theme night every year. “We have had four such nights in recent years,” she said. “And the residents are always ready to party.”

VIEW: Children in need will receive support to complete their education thanks to the members of Burleigh Palm Beach VIEW Club (above).

The ladies donned their red-and-green outfits to celebrate Christmas in July.

VIEW, which stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women, support the work of the Smith Family in helping disadvantaged Australian schoolchildren. The money raised this winter will go towards learning support programs.

The next meeting of the Burleigh Palm Beach VIEW Club will be held on Tuesday, August 15, at 10am at Treetops Tavern, West Burleigh.

New members are always welcome. Phone Ros on 5520 5821.
