THE garbage from those against gay marriage has already started. Tony Abbott is leading the charge, with claims such marriages will bring in religious persecution, political correctness and child abuse.
As usual, Abbott is upside down. Religious people have been known to abuse children and to demand their own political correctness and are determined to interfere in the lives of those with differing beliefs.
So it’s going to be a long halfyear until the Liberals finally inflict their mad, money-wasting plebiscite on us. G.T.W. AGNEW THE reason the polls show support for gay marriage recursions, and those who suggest that they represent support for the “yes” vote are wrong.
The gay lobby is fully aware that a free vote will be comprehensively lost, hence their desperation to avoid one at all costs.
Toppling the government so the people are denied a vote would be a very high cost indeed. BRUCE CRAMOND, MURWILLUMBAH IN REGARDS to Springbrook Mountain Manor (GCB, 8/8), my first thought was for the thousands of homeless sleeping rough.
I think it would make a fabulous hospice for the women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence or perhaps for the refugees seeking a safer life.
The manor is a fine example of this do-nothing mob. The millions of dollars that this, and previous, Labor governments have cost us and wasted is beyond belief. QUEENIE PETER Johnson’s park plan (Your Views, 9/8) is excellent. Simple, relatively inexpensive accessible to all and enduring. I and many other would support his plan. GEOFF SIMMONS LAST Sunday the Titans in front of 15,000 fans – what a shellacking.
Ten tries scored. Where’s the last line of defence the “Hayne’s Plane”? Did they go past him, through him or under him?
I have read Darryl Kelly is having second thoughts about investing more money.
They need a coach, get Tommy Raudonikis as coach to get more mongrel in the side, and get rid of the timid kitties.
I suggest Mr Kelly dumps them and gets two or three race horses trained by Chris Waller. PAST PLAYER TOM I MOVED from the grime and crime of Melbourne to a peaceful lifestyle on beautiful Main Beach.
I was attracted there for a number of reasons but key among them was the natural beauty of The Spit.
Burleigh Heads was my only other serious consideration due to its proximity to the National Park.
I care little for the motivation behind the State Government’s decision to scrap the destruction of The Spit, however, I applaud them for making it.
Hundreds of thousands of Victorians will follow me up here over the next 20 years.
Guess what will attract them … it won’t be a new casino. DAVID PANTHER, MAIN BEACH
