WHERE TO WATCH MONEY FIGHT

- McGregor ‘brain snap’ fear, P72

A GOLD Coast publican has landed in Las Vegas to join celebrities, high-rollers and VIPs for Sunday’s Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Conor McGregor money fight.

Chevron Island Tavern owner Adam Maley has taken two mates with him to Vegas to watch the bout at MGM Resorts’ T-Mobile Arena.

“I’ve got a contact at the MGM Casino in Las Vegas who got me tickets for Sunday,” Mr Maley said as he prepared to fly out for the US.

“I did well. There’s three of us going over.”

Mr Maley said he had no say on who to take with him.

“I had no choice. I had two friends alongside me when I got the email to say I had tickets who got them,” he said.

It’s not the first time Mr Maley has travelled to the US for a premium boxing event as a guest of MGM Resorts.

“I’ve done it once before. They did the same thing for the Mayweather Pacquiao Gold Coast venues screening the fight for free live on Sunday from 11am include: Southport, North Burleigh and Nobby Surf Clubs, Chevron Island Tavern, RQ’s, Southport Sharks, Angler’s Arms, Nerang RSL, Club Helensvale, Melba’s, Helm Bar, Surfers Beer Garden, Bavarian Bier Café, Envy Hotel, D’Arcy Arms, Fiddlers Green, Waxy’s, The Star, Broadbeach Tavern, Lonestar Tavern, Miami Tavern, Emerald Lakes Golf Club, Currumbin RSL, Coolangatta Sands, CSi Club,

fight (in May 2015),” he said.

Mr Maley was ringside to see Jeff Horn upset Manny Pacquiao in Brisbane in August but said nothing compared to being in the room for fight night in Sin City.

“The Brisbane fight was great but it didn’t have the atmosphere of Las Vegas, all indoors with the lighting effects and sound effects.”

Like most boxing fans, Mr Maley reckons Mayweather has McGregor covered. Varsity Lakes, Dog and Parrot, Coolangatta Hotel, Hinterland Hotel, Burleigh Heads Hotel Burleigh Town Tavern, Wallaby Hotel. Palm Beach Hotel, Ferry Road Tavern, Cecil Hotel, Fisherman’s Wharf, Kirra Sports Club, Dublin Docks, Boardwalk Tavern, Oxenford Tavern, Benowa Tavern, Tugun Leagues, Surfers Paradise Golf Club, Parkwood Tavern, Runaway Bay Tavern, Pacific Pines Tavern, Coomera Tavern, South Tweed Tavern, Seagulls Club, Burleigh Sports Club.

“He’s too professional for the other bloke,” he said.

Mr Maley’s Chevron bar is one of dozens of pubs, bistros and surf clubs screening the fight for free on the Coast.

Jeff Fenech will chat to MC Dave Ellar at The Star‘s free screening for 1400 fans in its main theatre while Event Cinemas will screen the fight at its four Coast sites live from 11am, with tickets from $28.
