No snags in plans to grow
GOLD Coast-based sausage maker Gotzinger Smallgoods has expanded its footprint in the Yatala Enterprise Area in a move to “future proof” the growing operation.
The company, run by Antony van der Drift, has bought 8800sq m of cleared land at 122 Lahrs Rd, Ormeau, for $1.9 million plus GST from John Goss Projects Pty Ltd, linked to Robert Edwards.
Half of the land is to be leased back to the vendor for 12 months.
The land is east of the 5000sq m Gotzinger owns at 126-130 Lahrs Rd, which houses the company’s manufacturing and warehousing facilities as well as a retail shop.
Dunbier Marine Products is sandwiched between the Gotzinger operation and the newly acquired land. Mr van der Drift, who bought the company in 2000 and moved from Burleigh to Ormeau in 2004, said the company has seen double-digit growth for the past 17 years.
He said it supplies thousands of retail outlets throughout the country, including Woolworths and Coles and is a major supplier to Brisbane Oktoberfest.
“Due to the growth of the business we have purchased this land for future planning,” he said.
“We do not have firm plans for the land at this stage. It will accommodate extra parking for our retail customers and staff.”
Marketing agent Steve Macgregor, of Ray White Industrial/Commercial Gold Coast, said strong warehouse/factory sales in the area had spurred growing interest in development sites.
He said he fielded 30 inquiries about the land during the course of the campaign.
