Happy pill heart risk
TAKING anti-depressants could increase the risk of an early death from heart disease by a third, a major study suggests.
The drugs do more harm than good, researchers claim, and their use should be severely curtailed. Psychiatrists disputed the latest findings, arguing that they have been safely used for years and offer a lifeline for depressed people.
But the Canadian study suggests the risk of death is greater than thought among those who don’t have heart disease because anti-depressants thin the blood.
