A MAN convicted on a drug charge alleged police planted heroin on him, faked a car accident and shot his dog to scare him.

Raymond Wolman, 32, told the Southport Magistrates Court: “I was hysterical, crying and pleading with them why they had shot my dog.”

Detective Ronald St George said he shot the german shepherd because he thought it was going to bite him.

Wolman, a waiter of Koala Park, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of a dangerous drug at Broadbeach.

Mr Albert O’Donnell, SM, fined him $750 in default of three months jail.

Mr O’Donnell said Wolman’s allegations were “like a plot from a Dirty Harry movie.

Det John McDermott told the court he and Det St George had followed Wolman’s car on February 23.

After they had ordered Wolman to pull the car over, Det St George had reportedly yelled out, “we believe you have drugs”.

Wolman had slowed own and collided with the police car.

“Wolman’s dog was barking ferociously at Det St George, then I heard a shot and the dog dropped,” said Det McDermott.

Det St George said: “The dog rushed at me with its head and paws sticking out of the car, so I shot it.”

Det McDermott told the court that a police officer following had seen Wolman throw a piece of paper out of the car.

The police officer had found heroin in the paper.

Det McDermott said Wolman had told him it was “just a taste of heroin – enough to make me stoned.”
