I HAVE noticed a worrying new trend since I began using the bus services in recent months.

Many Gen Y passengers seem to think it is OK to travel for free on Gold Coast buses and light rail.

Understandably, the bus drivers do not challenge these non payers who know the drill and tell the driver to record it as fare evader.

With the Commonwealth Games coming next year, it is not a good look for visitors to witness.

The lack of respect shown to the driver is rude to say the least.

Occasionally, the transit police are at the Harbour Town stop, but obviously not often enough.

This is unfair to the commuters who pay the fare and leaves the

driver in a vulnerable position. Clean up your act, TransLink. THE Queensland Government, wants to encourage people to use public transport, to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions.

Then gives a license to Uber, to hire unlimited numbers of private car owners, to operate and compete with the taxi industry.

Makes sense? SURELY I am not the only person who doubts repeated governments were oblivious to the nation’s imminent energy crisis?

The latest attempt to use our gas assets as an excuse to explain away part of our power crisis on this non renewable will again be bought by a largely apathetic populace. I NORMALLY fully back the police but it seems we have one thuggish and out-of-control officer roaming inner-city Brisbane streets who loves biffing young and drunken male persons.

The cop should be allowed to resign on psychological grounds with full entitlements. I FELT sick watching the recent Four Corners report. We all know, Tom Tate wants to turn our lovely area into another Dubai.

He doesn’t listen to our wishes. He is power drunk and only caters to the millionaires. He says he loves cement, I suspect he drives around with a bag of it in his car boot. If he sees a green plant, he’ll pour it over it.

Poor Dawn wasn’t even consulted about Tom’s wish for a casino in a few of the remaining green spots in Southport.

Sack this council and put an administrator in charge. THE Surfers’ GC 600 race track is an absolute joke.

We had a great open race track at Carrara, loved by our past racing legends (Brock, Johnson etc) until the loony council allowed developers to build homes on that beautiful wide open flood plain.

Were the councillors at that time influenced by developers donations (that still exists today) to make that outrageous decision?

Proved in the courts many times in the past, “donations” is only a fancy name for a “bribe”.
